X-1 Additive
This is a calcium chloride-based de-icer blended with corrosion inhibitors, carbohydrate sugars and magnesium chloride. This blend of de-icers is very fast at melting and has a strong residual presence. Surfaces will appear wet to make its residual effect easy to monitor between applications. This concentrate is intended to be used as a salt brine enhancer in the de-icing of surfaces to ensure safe conditions. It can be used as a pre-treatment (anti-icing), direct liquid application (post-plow de-icing), as well as a pre-wetting agent for dry material.
De-icing considerations for use:
-
Ground temperature
-
Surface condition – what moisture is present on the surface?
-
Humidity
Blending guidelines for X1 are similar to calcium blending charts.
-
Tests have been completed from 2% to 30%
-
5% blend rate has been very versatile for many winter conditions. At this rate, variations in application rate (625-1000L/Ha) can accommodate humidity and surface conditions.
-
Temperature guidelines for blending have been adhered to at this point.
-
Spot treatment of ice pack and run off are done at 1125L/Ha
-
Pre-treatment @ 5% blend application rates are 350-425L/Ha
Deviations from current testing data come with certain risks. Monitoring of application performance is important. Please use responsibly.
